google code jam india 2006
Monday, February 27th, 2006The 2006 Google Code Jam is coming up. registration has opened today.
programming language is either java or c++ (can be chosen). there is a qualification round on March 20, where people will have a limited amount of time (~ 1 hour) to complete a couple of given tasks on-line. the fastest coders proceed to the championship round in bangalore on April 7.
as usual you can win cash prices + jobs at google.
update the competition is open only for residents of india and neighboring states. WTF

Monday, February 20th, 2006For DJing with Traktor you normally need 2 stereo outputs. One for your decks and one for your headphones. Or one for each deck, if you are using an external mixer. Most laptops only have one line-out, so in order to use Traktor properly you would have to buy an (exepnsive) USB or Firewire soundcard. There is a cheap way around this, if you have an external mixer and mono output is sufficient for your needs. This is how to do it:

Tuesday, February 14th, 2006somehwere on the gtd blog over at 43folders i recently read of a simple way to improve your productivity: set your email client to check for new emails only every hour or even couple of hours (assuming you have set it to something like 10 minutes as i did). it sounds like a very simple thing but it really works. you simply don’t get distracted that often. this then allows you to reach a state referred to as flow, which means you can concentrate on your work much better.
